Description: Participants will create a digital artwork, may it be a photomontage, fractal art, vector art or photo manipulations, using a photo editing software such as Photoshop, Corel Photopaint, GIMP, etc.
Mechanics / Details:1. Each participant may only submit one entry. To be eligible to submit images to the contest, participants must fill up a registration form at the Animation Lab (C-209, College Building).
2. All entries must be in RGB format with a minimum size of 1000x1000 pixels, and a maximum 4000x4000 pixels.
3. All entries must be submitted via our contest
submission form and
must be printed in a Photopaper with a minimum size of 8”x10" (8R).
4. Entries must reflect the SCITECH Month’s Theme: “
Make Science and Technology Work for You.”
5. Participation is free of charge. Contest judges and their immediate family may not participate.
6. By submitting an entry to this contest, the contestant grants the organizers the rights to freely publish said image online or in printed media in relation to the contest, without remuneration.
7. You download images online but the usual copyright and plagiarism rules apply: you may not use someone else’s material without permission. In case of doubt, the jury and/or staff may request to see the original image file.
8. All entries must be submitted on or before September 12, 2008.
9. Once an entry has been submitted it cannot be changed, so make sure you submit the correct and final version of your image.
10. The contest is open to everyone, regardless of course and year level.
11. The winner will be determined by the judges’ votes. The judges’ votes will be based on the following criteria:
a. Overall Creativity and Concept
b. Creative Presentation of the theme
c. Visual Impact
d. Technical Skills
12. Organizers assume all entries are original creations and the work and property of the errant with all rights granted therein. The participant retains the copyright of the submitted image.
13. Modifying, enhancing or altering someone else’s artwork does not constitute an original, valid contest entry.
14. Organizers are not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant.
15. Participants will be asked to submit the original image file for his/her submission for examination. If this reveals a breach of contest rules/requirements, organizers may at their discretion disqualify the winner. Failure/refusal to submit the original image file for examination will result in the disqualification of the entry, and the entry in second place will move up to first place.
16. Organizers reserve the right to remove material deemed to be abusive, harmful, harassing, pornographic or in other ways unsuitable for display. We reserve the right to use our discretion on this point.
17. The submitted images will be displayed without watermarks in the following sites: adzu.edu.ph/sanggunian, aicgorg.com and csitao.multiply.com.
18. Works that will enter the finals will be exhibited at the Student Activity Center during the Tech Display on September 15-19, 2008. During the exhibit, there will be a voting center for the best digital art. The most number of votes (P.50 is equivalent to one vote) will win a special award.
19. The submission with the highest score wins. If there is a draw, the voter’s vote gets preference. The winner decision will be final; no discussion will be entered into.
20. Organizers reserve the right to, if necessary, modify the rules and/or proceedings of the contest, in order to stamp out cheating, fraud, etc. They have taken the necessary steps to monitor the proceedings of the contest in their entirety, and will actively root out any attempts at cheating.
21. Entries not complying with the contest rules are subject to disqualification without prior warning.
